Major release of CAM350 that introduces 3D manufacturing data visualization to model CAM data exported from PCB design tools. 3D manufacturing data visualization provides a virtual model of the PCB to predict how a designers manufacturing data will be integrated and constructed into a finished PCB. The use of 3D provides a more robust environment to interrogate PCB manufacturing data as users can explore what the finished PCB will look like at any angle including in between layers when compared to traditional 2D technology.
A new viewport has been integrated that allows a user to visualize 2D CAM data as a 3D PCB.
- Full 3D rendering to depict artwork layers as well as construction layers complete with user defined material thicknesses and other attribute settings.
- PCB Model Mode toggles switches the view port to color the PCB by layer types (masks, screens, conductive, dielectric layers) creating a more realistic depiction of the finished PCB.
- Full cameral and zoom control to easily pan around the design using either the mouse or ribbon menu commands
- Automatic conversion of negative data into positive data allows the user to visualize the negative data as it would appear in the finished PCB.
- Spread and Peel functions allow users to increase the spacing between top and bottom layers to explore inner layers and via/drill technologies.
- Cross section cutting along either X, Y, or Z planes for easier inspection of internal PCB features
- Error markers and Error log exploring allows the user to explore comparison, DRC, or DFM errors on the 3D model.
3D PDF Export
Users can export the 3D PCB model into standard Adobe PDF output. Once exported, the PDF document can be shared with design team members or manufacturers for feedback. Adobe supports the ability to interact with the model through camera changes, panning and zoom, and pushing into the models hierarchy.
Stack Up Visualizer
A new interactive graphic oriented visualizer is provided that allows users to view the stack up in tablature, cross section and 3D.
- Drag and drop to interactively change layer orders represented by imported CAM files to correctly depict which layers are stacked in which order
- Add construction materials and set attributes for each layer such as layer thickness or dielectric constant.
- Interactively define and view via spans and technologies including back- drills
- Extract the stack up design to verify with a chosen manufacturer or import a stack up definition set by a manufacturer
Graphic User Interface (GUI) Redesign
CAM350 has gone through a total “face lift” of the product. Hierarchical menus and tool bars have been replaced by more streamlined and flattened ribbon style user interface.
- All commands are no more than 2 levels deep for fast access to CAM350 functions
- Redesigned layer navigation allows the user to navigate through individual layers, layer sets, or composite layers within the same user interface.
- Improved support for intelligent manufacturing data introduces a new “Design Mode” that allows users to set visibility for internal layer features such as routes, copper, vias, text, etc.
- A dynamic “World View” has been added to quickly show reference of the current zoom window on the entire design.
- New dynamic data table panes replace previous tree navigation methods to identify Dcodes, nets, parts, drills, etc. The data table panes interact with the view port and show all of the items properties at the same time.
- Over 100 dialogs have been redesigned to eliminate redundancy and conform to more current UI layouts. All dialogs are now resizable with many dialogs allowing the user to expand or contract dialog data. In many instances graphical previews have been implemented to preview parametric changes before implementing them.
Enhanced 2D Graphics
The 2D viewport has been modified to support layer transparency as well as feature attributes.
- Colors can be set by PCB features when using intelligent design data to delineate routes, vias, text, etc., with a unique color assignment.
- Support for net and pin labels have been added when using intelligent design data such as ODB++ or IPC-2581.
- Support for Dcode and Drill labels when have been added when processing unintelligent Gerber and drill data.
New Compare and DRC methodologies
The user interface for comparison and DRC analysis has been redesigned and consolidated to make it more intuitive and easier to re-run processes.
- Layer and design comparison dialogs now support display windows to see both data sets as well as any defined analysis areas before the process is run.
- Users can now run any analysis either as a one-time run or save the parameter settings to a batch Stream file to run multiple processes sequentially.
- An integrated batch “Stream Editor” is standard with every CAM350 to allow users to queue up multiple processes and run them automatically. Users can define multiple “Streams” based on differing design technologies or manufacturers.
- New error log consolidates the different error logs support in previous revisions and adds new features typically found in DownStream’s DFMStream error log manager like error charting and filtering
New Common Data Base
A new database format has been implemented that makes any DownStream database created from any DownStream product compatible with any other DownStream product.
- Both Gerber & Drill and ODB++/IPC2581based project databases created in CAM350 or DFMStream can be opened in BluePrint for documentation purposes. Allowing customer to document using Gerber files if they choose.
- Any BluePrint documentation project can be opened in CAM350 or DFMStream for the purposes of analysis, data extraction, or design modification if the user chooses.
64 Bit platform support
CAM350 now runs natively on 64 bit platforms.
