DownStream Technologies Announces CAM350 Release 8.7 Delivers OBD++ as Part of Standard
Configurations
New release delivers ODB++ and PCB Arraying as part of basic configurations
and is the first release in an aggressive roadmap for 2005
Bolton, Mass – January 10, 2005 – DownStream Technologies, LLC today
announced CAM350 Release 8.7, the latest version of its industry-leading
PCB CAM solution. With this release DownStream begins to execute on an
aggressive 2005 corporate roadmap that will include updates to their
flagship product CAM350, as well as several other important announcements to
impact the overall PCB design community.
With Release 8.7, DownStream will make what was once "optional"
functionality "standard" in their entry-level Gerber analysis and editing
configurations. Now included in those systems will be the Fast Array module
and the ODB++ Import module. In addition, with all mid-range and high-end
configurations - targeted at both PCB Designers and CAM Engineers - the
company will include the ODB++ Export module. Company officials site a
growing demand by the mainstream PCB design market for new alternatives to
the Gerber file format as well as additional functionality to array PCBs as
the main reason for this change.
"We have continued to see the mainstream market become increasingly
conscious of how PCB design impacts PCB manufacturing," said Rick Almeida,
Founder of DownStream Technologies. "With Release 8.7, we are delivering
what used to be "exclusive" technology with virtually every new product we
ship. This will allow our customers to design the most manufacturable PCBs
they can," he added.
Release 8.7 also includes support for Altium's PCAD 2004 and the next
product update of Mentor's PADS PCB layout software, as well as a number of
other software corrections. The company expects to ship the Fast Array and
ODB++ Interface modules to over 4000 existing customers.
"We are excited about Release 8.7 as it marks the first deliverable of an
aggressive product release plan for 2005 a plan which will include
additional CAM350 updates and modules. We also plan other major
announcements during the first half of 2005 that not only impact our
customer base but the entire PCB design community in general," added
Almeida.
CAM350-110 - Now with Fast Array Module and ODB++ Import
The Fast Array Module (FAM) automates the sub-panel process to quickly array
a PCB or a group of PCBs on a panel, feeding the fabrication and assembly
process. The CAM350-110 configuration also supports the importation of the
ODB++ file format.
CAM350-260 and 460 - Now with ODB++ Import and Export
CAM350-260 and 460 now supports a bidirectional ODB++ format with options
that allow for easy import and/or export including symbols, step and repeat,
components and drills.
