Can I create new drill symbols to be used in BluePrint?

Yes.

BluePrint installs with a pre-defined set of drill symbols. You can also create your own custom drill symbols to display in Drill patterns and Drill Charts.

To Create a Custom Drill Symbol

  1. Create your Drill Symbol Pictorial using BluePrint's drafting tools. You can also import a DXF and convert it to BluePrint primitives to create a Drill Symbol Pictorial.

  2. Select all segments of the Drill Symbol Pictorial and select Make Drill Symbol from the selection's context menu.

  3. Select the position for the drill symbol Origin.

  4. Enter the name for the new drill symbol.

  5. Select OK.

Note: Custom drill symbols are saved in the Drill Symbol folder under the root of the BluePrint installation and the files are named using the drill symbol name you specified. You can share these files (custom drill symbols) with other BluePrint users.

To Apply a Custom Drill Symbol

  1. Open the Fabrication Drawing Manager

  2. Select the Drill Symbols button

  3. Select the cell under the Symbol column which represents the drill you want to change. A drop-down menu will appear and you can now browse to view and select the new drill symbol you created.

  4. When you Close the Fabrication Drawing Manager the new symbol will be populated in any Drill Pattern or Drill Chart you display on your documentation.

To Share a Custom Drill Symbol:

  1. In Microsoft Windows, navigate to the Drill Symbols folder of your BluePrint installation root directory. The files in this directory represent the custom drill symbols you created.

  2. Copy and move these files to the Drill Symbol folder in the root of any other BluePrint installation. When BluePrint is invoked it will import the drill symbols in the Drill Symbols folder and they will be available to the Fabrication Drawing Manager.
