Issue: DirectCAM from PADS Layout Resulting in Problems
Solution: Use CAM350 CAD Import Option
Previously PADS users were able to use a link inside of PowerPCB (now PADS Layout) to
automatically load an intelligent file into CAM350. They would then export an IPC-d_356 Netlist or ODB++ from PADS.
This interface is owned by Mentor and was written quite some time ago. It has not been updated in 8 years.
We are starting to see more and more failures with this interface. Unfortunately, we have no control over the
code or development of this interface, it is still owned by Mentor.
To insure our customers can get the most accurate data possible, we are now
recommending that anyone who wishes to create an IPC-d-356 Netlist from
PADS (or export ODB++), export the ASCII data from PADS and then use the
PADS import option in CAM350 to load the intelligent data.
Any PADS user who wishes to do the above, must have the PADS interface.
