The following is a set of instructions for adding a BluePrint and/or a CAM350 license
service to a Windows-based license server running an existing copy of the FlexLM license manager.
Please note that FlexLM on the Windows platform fully supports multiple copies of itself running
on the same system. It is recommended that FlexLM 11.4 (included with installation media) be installed
rather than do a Manual setup. But the options described below work fine as well, thus the manner of FlexLM setup is a choice.
What you will need
License.dat file.
You can send request via e-mail to
support@downstreamtech.com to get it. Please include product version and
contact information. Include your registration number or HOST ID as well
(if applicable)
Current Downstream Technologies FlexLM Daemons
These are available by request to
support@downstreamtech.com. The files will have had their file extensions
changed so as not to get blocked by e-mail filters. Change their names to
lmgrd.exe and act_inc.exe.
Server Setup Instructions
Place license.dat file and the Daemons into a folder on the license server.
Path to folder cannot contain any spaces.
Example:
C:\License Manager\DownstreamTech\license.dat
This is a problem as there is a space in the path
C:\LicenseManager\DownstreamTech\license.dat
This is a good path.
Open license file to make changes. The Server Name will probably be set to REPLACE_THIS_HOST_NAME.
Replace that text with the server’s host name. The Daemon path will need to be changed to point
to act_inc.exe
Example post edits:
SERVER PDS1 00300200100a TCP:7102
DAEMON act_inc C:\LicenseManager\DownstreamTech\act_inc.exe
Stop any existing BluePrint or CAM350 license service using your current copy of LMtools
to do so. Typically there is a Stop/Start/Reread tab that will let you do this.
Modify existing service or make a new one. This can be done on the Config Services Tab normally.
Start new license service.
Client Setup Instructions
Place an exact copy of the license file on the license server into the application’s folder on the client system.
Typically these folders are:
C:\Program Files\DownStream Technologies\BluePrint-PCB 1.8\
C:\Program Files\DownStream Technologies\Cam350 9.5\
