DownStream Technologies Announces CAM350® Version 9.5

New release reflects customer requested enhancements and features

Marlborough, Mass – May 1, 2007 – DownStream Technologies, LLC today announced CAM350™ Release 9.5, the latest version of its industry-leading solution for the verification and optimization of printed circuit boards. In CAM350® V 9.5, DownStream has added a variety of features and enhancements that had been requested by their customer base.

“The functionality in CAM350® truly reflects the needs of our users,” said Rick Almeida, one of DownStream’s Founders. Each year, our User Advisory Board offers product enhancements based on input from the existing customer base. We also collect requests and ideas at various industry events, tradeshows and customer meetings. Then, our Product Development Team prioritizes the requests and develops a plan to best meet the requirements,” he added.

Release 9.5 continues DownStream’s focus on helping PCB designers efficiently post-process PCB design data into useful manufacturing information.

CAM350 Version 9.5 Highlights

Release 9.5 includes new functionality and enhancements including:

  • AutoImport Templates - AutoImport Templates allow users to predefine how Gerber files are viewed in CAM350. Users can define layer types, sequence, and colors. Users often load the same data set multiple times in the design process, and the AutoImport Templates allow them to view the data in a consistent manner each time. Generic Templates are included with Release 9.5 for the more common CAD outputs. Users can customize these further, or create templates of their own. Templates can also be shared between multiple installations of CAM350.

  • PADS Layout® Import Interface - The PADS ASCII Import option has been updated to support PADS 2007 release. PADS ASCII Import will now support the automatic creation of NC Drill layers. The silkscreen in the PADS ASCII Import now more closely matches the Gerber equivalent output of PADS Layout.

  • ODB++ Interface - The ODB++ Import now supports the CAD Netlist as a reference Netlist in CAM350. The external or reference Netlist in CAM350 will now be output as the CAD Netlist in ODB++ output.

  • Vista® support - Release 9.5 has been updated to support installation and execution on Microsoft Vista. Updated FLEX lm Version 11.4 and Sentinel Driver 7.3.2 for Vista are included as well.

  • Border To Layer Command - The One-Up Border To Layer command converts the one up border to graphics and the Panel Border To Layer converts the panel border to graphics. These are used in creating panel drawings and NC milling programs.

  • License Borrowing - CAM350 now supports licensing borrowing in Network installations. Mobile users can check out a license from the server for a defined period of time, use the software while not connected to the server, and the license is checked back in after a set period of time.

Usability Updates

  • Netlist Extract algorithm updates support faster performance for large files
  • DXF Export Interface updated to support intuitive selection of layers to export
  • AutoImport command: support saving default NC Data format specifications

Defect Fixes

Over 35 software corrections have been made to previously existing functionality, further improving upon CAM350’s quality and reliability.

Availability and Pricing

Version 9.5 is available immediately for download and will ship to over 3500 current users with valid maintenance contracts.
