CAM350 - Crossprobing

Dynamic Crossprobing functionality to Mentor's PADS Layout (formerly PowerPCB®) and Cadence's Allegro® Windows-based PCB design solutions. With this functionality, design errors can be highlighted in CAM350 and its exact location shown in the CAD software allowing the you to quickly and easily locate and resolve the issue.

With Crossprobing, CAM350 can also be used to view intelligent data in the CAD software (components, pins, nets) while at the same time, viewing the corresponding locations as Gerber data in CAM350.

Who needs it: Anyone analyzing the design data and wishing to maintain an accurate original design database.

Crossprobing with CAM350

PCB Designers who thoroughly evaluate the Gerbers prior to Fabrication analyze the data using a CAM software (CAM350), not the CAD software. Once an issue has been highlighted and corrected in CAM350, it is wise to modify it back in the CAD software as well. This maintains the original CAD database, ensuring it is always an accurate, current source of information.

The new Crossprobing functionality available with CAM350 further closes the gap between engineering and manufacturing. PCB designers can now quickly locate potential discrepancies between design intent (CAD data) and manufacturing outputs (Gerber data), as well as cross reference potential errors found in CAM350 back to the original CAD database.

Crossprobing is available for:

Crossprobing of results, and the new visual linking of CAM350 to CAD software, allow the designer to verify and repair design flaws in the original database. Furthermore, the visual linking of layer visibility and zoom level, allow the user to view Gerber files as if they had the intelligence of the CAD Database.
