Dynamic Crossprobing functionality is
available to Mentor PADS Layout, Mentor Expedition, and
Cadence Allegro® Windows-based PCB design solutions. When using Crossprobing, CAM350XL can locate design
errors (with DRC, DFF, and Streams) and quickly pinpoint the exact location of those errors in your CAD software.
This feature allows you to quickly and easily locate and resolve any design discrepancies.
You can select an error found in CAM350XL and the Crossprobing function will automatically zoom
to the corresponding location in your CAD database and turn on the proper layers. Likewise, for
analyzing standard Gerber files in CAM350XL, you can select components, component pins, or nets in
your CAD data
and the Crossprobing function will zoom to the corresponding location in the CAM350XL Gerber display.
This essentially adds intelligence to otherwise unintelligent Gerber files.
This functionality is necessary for anyone analyzing the
design data and wishing to maintain an accurate original design
database.
Crossprobing Features:
- Bi-directional zoom/view window location between
CAM350XL and your CAD data
- Window/View synchronization
- Automatic layer displaying and synchronization
- Bi-directional selection of components, pins and nets
- DRC/DFF error identification contained in CAM350XL
is identified in your CAD data
- Crossprobing between intelligent CAD file and unintelligent Gerber data
This Crossprobing functionality further
closes the gap between engineering and manufacturing. You can now
quickly locate potential discrepancies between design intent (CAD data) and
manufacturing outputs (Gerber data), as well as cross reference potential errors
found in CAM350XL back to the original CAD database.
Crossprobing of results, and the new visual linking of CAM350XL to
CAD software, allows you to verify and repair design flaws in the
original database. Furthermore, the visual linking of layer visibility and zoom
level, allows you to view Gerber files as if they had the intelligence of
the CAD Database.
Crossprobing Summary
Crossprobing allows you to coordinate fabrication errors found using CAM350XL with the physical
layout tool (Allegro, Expedition, PADS) through a dynamic link. This functionality ensures errors can
be properly viewed and corrected. It works with CAM350XL’s Design Rule Check (DRC), Design For Fabrication (DFF),
StreamsRC, and Netlist Compare functions.
The Crossprobing function greatly aids you in ensuring that designs can be manufactured, and thereby
ensures that your company can meet their time-to-volume production goals. The original design database is
always maintained to the highest standards.
